We get to mixing and I didn't prepare ahead of time and let the butter sit out, and it calls for it to be softened! Well with out microwave I found this a little difficult! My BRILLIANT thought was to put it into the toaster oven, well that wasn't smart at all! It melted the outside and the middle was still hard! But we made do then added the sugars, went to beat it and the beaters DIED! Okay not the
I was determined to be PATIENT (not a strong point right now) and let Paris do as much as she was able to do. She did really well, but when it came to the eggs, I told her I would do it, but she insisted that she could and really wanted to, so what the heck, the one to get an eggshell in their cookie wins!? It was funny watching her fist the egg, hit the edge of the table, stick ALL of her fingers into the cracks and just CRUSH the egg and let it all drip thru her fingers into the bowl!!!
We used our hands!
It took a little while to say the least! But WE DID we are done! Oh wait, I then realized, I FORGOT the most important part THE CHOCOLATE CHIPS!!!! Totally didn't even get them at the store, so these cookies are literally OATMEAL COOKIES! We only actually baked one batch so we didn't feel like total failures and froze the rest of the batter for when I do get chocolate chips! I still liked em! It didn't quite go over as great as it did in my head, but Paris and I did have fun just hanging out baking, something that NEVER happens!

yummy! those look pretty good. i don't think chocolate chips are even a requirement for oatmeal cookies.
so much fun... all the missteps made me laugh (you mixed with your hands?) i sure wish i was closer so i could have some. no, really, i do. i mean it. paris probably ate it up - both literally and figuratively.
Ditto with Faith, chocolate chips are definitely not requirements for oatmeal cookies. And wow - I am impressed at your fortitude. :) Good job, they look delicious! That looks like a ton of fun - Paris is just glowing.
Good for you for sticking it out to the end. I would've given up at the half hard butter. Can you tell I don't like to bake?
I know what you mean about fatigue... keeping my eyes open feels like a effort. Those cookies made me so hungry!! YUM
Good for you and Paris. She will learn all the household duties soon. You know from washing dishes to baking. Good for her. Looks like she had a blast.
wow, I'm impressed! when i was that tired and pregnant i don't think i would've gotten past the grocery store. how fun for paris- she looks so cute in those pics.
Way to improvise, Sara! That looks so fun. Way to keep patient & stick to it, and... MAJOR KUDOS for letting Paris crack the eggs! I'm still a bit on the woosy side and crack the egg in a cup, then let them dump the cup in ;)
YUMMY! (and you can even feel that much more healthy that there's no chocolate in there!)
p.s. Hawli is in LABOR today! 6 days early, too :)
You're so cute! I think it's all about the effort!! Genius to freeze the batter until you get chocolate chips! :)
I hope you are doing good - it was good to see Justin on Saturday - maybe I'll see you guys too, again someday! :)
